There was a time when the 900 was a legendary skateboard trick. While pulling it off will still garner you considerable acclaim, the reaction will be nowhere near what Tony Hawk got when he landed his first one.
Why’s that? Simply put, skateboarders have gotten really, really good in recent years. As more people put time into the sport — and more resources are available to teach people how to do more complicated tricks — skaters now have the ability to crank out incredible moves and spins. In fact, we’ve even seen people land 1080s and 1260s in the years since.
In other words, these days, the 900 can even seem like child’s play to some. As in, a child has literally done a 900. In fact, he’s done three of them.

Nine-year-old Ema Kawakami from Kobe, Japan recently pulled off this incredible feat at Tony Hawk’s Vert Alert competition. Of course, it wasn’t the first time he’s done the move. Complex notes that Kawakami’s initial launch of his 900 career was two years ago, when he became the youngest skater to ever pull the move off at just 7 years old.

Unbelievably, this wasn’t enough to win Kawakami the competition. Instead, the title went to 15-year-old Brazilian skateboarder Gui Khury. Better luck next year, Ema — maybe try to land 4?
